About

I'm Mehmet Akif Erdem, an embedded software engineer based in Istanbul. I work at the T3 Foundation on the T3 Gemstone single-board computer line. My main focus is the T3 Gemstone O1 — TI's AM67A, quad-core Cortex-A53 with a 4 TOPS NPU — and my work spans a wide range: hardware validation, Yocto development, firmware, DFU (device firmware update), Android development, community content, and partner relations.

I graduated from FSMVÜ in Electrical & Electronics Engineering in 2025. My undergraduate thesis on AI-based maritime fire detection placed first nationally, and I've done internships at TÜBİTAK UME, Baykar, and ASPİLSAN.

Outside of work, I read a lot of Turkish literature and classical poetry, and I watch a fair amount of film. I run Pardus as my daily driver — which probably says something about how I like to do things: hands-on, and close to the metal.
